Healthy Air Living Schools (HALS), is a school-based outreach campaign focused on education, implementation and utilization of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District’s endorsed air quality improvement programs. This program encourages good outdoor air quality practices throughout the various school districts in the San Joaquin Valley. Program components include:
- Real-Time Air Advisory Network (RAAN): RAAN was developed by the Air District and health professionals to help schools and individuals makes decisions on whether outdoor air quality is acceptable for outdoor activities. RAAN provides schools and individuals with real-time air-quality data taken directly from the monitor nearest to the location.
- No-Idling Campaign: Provides information, training and signage to schools that assists them by strongly encouraging parents to turn off their engines when dropping off or picking up their child.
